Hi, we’re Green Flash Productions!

Thanks for taking an interest in our work! For nearly a decade, we’ve been making our first feature-length documentary, “The Green Flash,” which tells the story of Steve Lamb.

In 1973, Steve Lamb was one of six young men and an old shrimper caught with nine tons of marijuana in the sleepy town of Steinhatchee, Florida.

The Steinhatchee Seven, as they came to be known, were brought to justice for what was the biggest drug bust in U.S. history. For Steve, the youngest of the group, this was just the beginning.

Although Steve was a prolific maritime marijuana smuggler, "The Green Flash" goes beyond the sensation of his crimes. It's about a man and his family—multiple generations of people making a living in the tight-knit community of St. Pete Beach. It's about ambition, aging, and small town fame, told with the complexity and humor that colors our main character.

Making "The Green Flash" has been a long haul! After producing a story about Steve for Bitter Southerner in 2016, we started shooting in 2017. We finally finished in 2023 and made our festival premiere in April of '24.

We proudly screened screened at festivals across the world and took home several major awards. We took home the Audience Award at Ouray International Film Festival. We sold out three screenings and won Best Documentary at Sunscreen Film Festival. We won Best Original Score at Swedish International Film Festival. And we won Best Cinematography at Queens World Film Festival, where we were also nominated for Best Directors.
